AcreTrace stores field measurements and records locally on an Android phone. Each field can include a boundary, usable acreage, activities, costs, notes, markers and reports.
Field Activities & Costing is new in 0.13.0, now in internal testing. Record spraying, fertilising, seeding and other work against a saved field.
Use your treated area, application rates and purchase prices to calculate product quantities, activity costs and annual field spend — offline.
Import official English RPA parcels directly from Defra, or bring in KML, KMZ and GeoJSON from another mapping system.
Preview and name the fields before anything is added to your Field Register.

UK, US and metric measurement options
AcreTrace starts in UK mixed mode. Choose UK mixed, Imperial / US or Metric in Settings; there is no need to convert your field area by hand.

Activities use acres in both UK and Imperial / US modes. Each product can have its own rate per acre or hectare, and cost summaries show both. Current costing uses GBP and litres, millilitres, kilograms, grams or tonnes; US dollars, pounds and gallons are not yet supported.
New in 0.13.0 · Internal testing
Start with the field's net usable area, or enter a smaller treated area. Add each product, its rate per acre or hectare, and the price you paid per litre, tonne or pack. Include labour, machinery or other additional costs.
15 acres × 100 kg/acre = 1,500 kg. At £420 per tonne, that input costs £630, or £42/acre, before additional costs.
Review activity history, yearly spend and cost breakdowns. Saved activities keep their treated area when a field boundary changes. All prices are in GBP.

Implement Mode is being planned for ATVs, UTVs and tractors — particularly older machinery without built-in GPS guidance.
The first intended setup is an ATV, an external RTK GNSS receiver and a 3 m weed wiper. AcreTrace would account for the distance and sideways offset between the antenna and the implement, so the map shows the working position behind the vehicle.
The architecture review is complete. Equipment profiles and the position calculations are the next planned step. Live implement positioning, coverage and guidance are not available in the current app. No release date is set.
Further ahead: simple A–B lines for manual guidance. The proposed mode records and displays information; it will not control steering or machinery.
Acres will remain the default for UK users, with Imperial / US and Metric measurement options. Receiver compatibility and field performance still need validation.

Contractor records
For contracted work, you can also add the client, a job or quote reference and a short work description.
Use route distance for fencing, hedging or track work, acreage for mowing or spraying, and put the result into a PDF the client can open without the app.
Contractor details are optional. AcreTrace does not provide invoicing or customer management.

Optional guided field mode
For outdoor work, gloves or anyone who prefers a simpler interface, AcreTrace can guide the whole field walk with large controls and an obvious next step.
It uses the same survey records as the full interface, so guided mode can be switched on or off at any time.
A five-screen welcome tour introduces the workflow on first launch and lets the user choose Guided or Standard mode. It can be replayed later from Guide to AcreTrace.

Data storage
AcreTrace keeps its records on your Android phone.
There is no AcreTrace account, no advertising and no analytics. Your surveys, photographs and field records leave the app only when you choose to export, share or back them up.
If you choose to import official English boundaries, the app sends the SBI directly to Defra over HTTPS for that request. No AcreTrace server receives it.
Boundary files are read on the phone. If you switch on the OS map, map tiles are requested directly from Ordnance Survey; the normal field map remains available offline.
How AcreTrace handles your dataClosed Android beta
Google Play internal testing is active. We are recruiting 15–18 Android users for the next closed test; Google requires at least 12 to remain opted in for 14 consecutive days. Accepted testers receive private Google Play access and, for the paid test release, a one-time code so there is no charge.
