Yes. UK mixed is the default: acres for field area, with hectares and square metres alongside, and metres or kilometres for distance. In Settings, choose Imperial / US for acres, square feet, feet and miles, or Metric for hectares, square metres, metres and kilometres.

Activities use acres in UK mixed and Imperial / US modes. New input rates start per acre in those modes, but each product can independently use a rate per acre or hectare. Costs per acre and per hectare are both shown.

Version 0.13.0 currently prices activities in GBP and accepts litres, millilitres, kilograms, grams and tonnes. US dollars, pounds and gallons are not yet supported; selecting Imperial / US changes measurement preferences, not currency or product units.

In version 0.13.0, open a saved area field and choose Activities & costs, then Add activity. Enter the work type, date, treated area, products, application rates, purchase prices and any additional costs.

Use rates per acre or hectare and compatible liquid or weight units. For a £32 bag containing 25 kg, enter purchase price 32, purchase quantity 25 and purchase unit kg. All prices are GBP, and costs reflect the quantity used.

Follow the field activities and costs guide

Each saved activity keeps its own treated area, so remeasuring a field does not rewrite historical activity costs. You can enter a partial treated area when recording the work.

The annual summary uses the current whole-field net area for yearly cost per acre and hectare. Individual activity costs use their saved treated areas. Duplicating a field does not duplicate its expenditure.

Complete AcreTrace backups include field activities and costs. Restore them with version 0.13.0 or newer. Older backups remain supported.

Existing PDF survey reports and mapping exports do not include activity history or cost summaries. Use a complete backup to protect those records.

Deleting a field also deletes its activities. Back up before removing records you may need later.

AcreTrace 0.13.0 is active in Google Play internal testing for authorised accounts.

A controlled closed test is next. A public Google Play link will appear here only after testing, production-access approval and release review are complete.

Not for normal field work.

You can measure fields, use saved field maps, view records, add markers, create reports and make backups without a mobile signal.

A connection is required only while you choose to fetch official English boundaries directly from Defra.

The optional OS OpenData background also needs a connection; the normal AcreTrace field map remains available when offline.

If you choose to open or share an exported file using another application, that application may need its own internet connection.

Yes. Open Field Register and choose Import KML, KMZ or GeoJSON.

AcreTrace reads WGS84 latitude/longitude polygons on the phone, previews the outlines and lets you choose the fields and names before import.

The original file is not uploaded. Unsupported shapes and inner holes are reported instead of being silently guessed.

Yes. AcreTrace's OS Maps connection has been configured and verified.

Turn on OS OpenData background map in Settings to show free Light-style tiles while online.

If a tile cannot load, AcreTrace explains that the OS background is unavailable and keeps the normal field plan visible. Saved records and calculations still work offline, and OS tiles are not put into PDF reports.

Add an optional client name, job or quote reference and work description to a measured field, route or distance, then create a PDF for the client.

Field Activities & Costing calculates required quantities and costs from the application rates and prices you enter. It does not recommend application rates, create formal quotations or replace invoicing software.

Yes, for holdings in England.

The Field Register wizard accepts a nine-digit SBI, displays the licence requirements, fetches GeoJSON directly from Defra and lets you preview and select parcels before import.

The raw SBI is discarded after the request and never goes through an AcreTrace server.

On refresh, AcreTrace shows added, changed and removed parcels without silently replacing an official baseline, a local edit or a boundary you surveyed yourself.

Your AcreTrace records are stored on your Android device.

It's a good idea to create a complete AcreTrace backup regularly, particularly after important field work.

Always make a current backup before changing phone, uninstalling AcreTrace or clearing its application data.

Yes.

You can select several fields — or a complete holding — and create one KML map containing them together.

This can then be opened in compatible mapping software such as Google Earth.

It depends what you mean by survey.

Phone GPS/GNSS is useful for practical field measurements, records and approximate locations, but its accuracy varies and it should not be treated as survey-grade positioning.

AcreTrace shows the accuracy reported by the phone so you have some context for the result.

For legal boundaries or work requiring professional surveying accuracy, use the appropriate equipment and expertise.

You can save a marker to help you remember an approximate location.

Never rely on that marker to decide where it is safe to excavate.

Use current service plans, suitable cable or pipe locating equipment and proper safe-dig procedures before breaking ground.

Yes.

Choose the Repair Needed marker while you're in the field.

Add a note and, if useful, a photograph.

The marker is stored with the field and AcreTrace can later show the distance and bearing back to it.

Repair markers can also appear in field reports and exports.

Marker and exclusion lists can be adjusted to suit the way you work.

Built-in categories can be renamed or hidden without deleting markers already stored against your fields.

Yes. Google Play internal testing is active and a 15–18-person closed beta is being prepared.

Google requires at least 12 closed testers to remain continuously opted in for 14 consecutive days. Accepted testers need a Google account, a compatible Android phone and willingness to provide genuine feedback.
